Leadership is Earned NOT Ordained (Part 3 Conclusion?)

Over the last two weeks we’ve examined the definition and term, “leadership.” (Read Part 1 Here – Read Part 2 Here)

Truly leadership is so much more than a tile, a position, an inheritance, and does not depend on which school we have graduated from, how many diplomas we have received, or which corner office we have, how much money we make, or what title we decide to give ourselves!

The true title of leader is given from those around them.  There are several different styles of leadership and each style is unique – in other words theirs is not one master leadership style that rules them all.  Individuals that have truly embraced the essence of leadership understand the power they have come to hold exists because they have earned the responsibility of serving the many. To put it simply, leadership is ultimately a position of service, trust, and character (which maybe the hardest to achieve… vs merely a title)

Over the past three weeks, I have once again come to a personal conclusion that leadership is not patronage, power and/or position. It is about the service you give to show you care, the trust you bestow to show your integrity, the character you embody to others.  It’s more about reaching out instead of climbing up a personal ladder embraced by image.
